BIOGRAPHY

Adamanta Hornblower of Oatbarton, seven years younger than her sister, is loud and jolly, prone to wandering and laughter, truly a hobbit. Since her youth Adamanta dreamt of becoming a Bounder and guarding the borders of the Shire, dream that came true upon her adulthood.

​

With the frequent visits of the dúnedain by the northern border of the Shire, Adamanta took an interest to their duties. She traveled into the heart of Evendim and asked to be trained into their arts of battle. Some rangers were vehement at first, not wanting to reveal the dangers of the outside world, but in the end Adamanta is taught the way of the rangers.

Knowledge always comes with a price and Adamanta paid it in the form of her innocence. The dúnedain revealed to her the perils of the wider world and the task they've been given by their ancestors, always to guard the world of the Free People, a fact that scared the hobbit-lass to her very core. She returned to the Shire with a heavy heart, now forever knowing of the dangers that lurk so close to her home. Nevertheless, she persisted in her duty as a Bounder.

Adamanta spent a long time coming to terms with the loss of her innocence, as she could never return to the simple and joyful life hobbits have. She was one of the leaders of the fight in Oatbarton against Sharkey's lackeys during the Scouring of the Shire. At the end of the war, she confessed her love for her childhood sweetheart, Mirabella Cotton and married her soon thereafter. Adamanta and Mirabella lived a long and happy life taking to bee-keeping and cattle-raising.
